Introduction
NASA values the contributions of citizen scientists and enthusiasts worldwide. If you observe a potential discovery or unusual phenomenon in NASA's publicly available space data, there are several ways you can report it to help further scientific exploration and innovation.
Reporting Channels for the Public
You can share your findings through the following NASA platforms and services:
- NASA's Astrophysics Data System (ADS): Primarily for professional astronomers, but informed amateurs are encouraged to submit discoveries or unusual phenomena for review and potential publication.
- NASA Citizen Science Projects: Participate through the
NASA Citizen Science Portal and partner projects on Zooniverse, where you can analyze NASA data and flag unusual observations for further investigation by NASA scientists.
- NASA Social Media and Official Contact Channels: Share your findings or ask questions via NASA’s social media platforms or directly contact NASA through their contact page, where notable reports are routed to the appropriate departments. Visit
https://www.nasa.gov/contact/
- NASA's Planetary Data System (PDS): If working with planetary data, report unexpected findings through collaboration tools and community forums associated with the PDS.
Engaging with NASA’s Mission
By contributing your observations, you actively participate in NASA’s mission of exploration, discovery, and innovation. Your reports help foster collaboration between citizen scientists and NASA researchers, enabling new phenomena to be recognized and studied.
